Objectives of the Working group
- Development of the Environmental Strategy of CCTT by 2030 to ensure comfortable and safe habitat to address the UN Global Sustainable Development Goals.
- Facilitating to build relevant international legal base for carbon regulation.
Tasks of the Working group
- Addressing questions related to higher environmental responsibility.
- Development of measures and initiatives to employ resource-saving technologies and implementation of carbon negative projects considering the international agenda for sustainable development and green economy.
- Promoting Trans-Eurasian routes as green transport corridors.
- Development of initiatives to build a mechanism of trans-border carbon regulation in railroad and multimodal transportation.
Key areas of Activity for the Working group
- Organizing and holding WG meetings on the points related to discussed and addressed WG tasks;
- Addressing documents, reports, and events related to the current regulations in protection of the environment in domestic and international freight transportation in railroad and multimodal traffic;
- Analysis of the EC developed regulation for trans-border carbon regulation in some goods imported to the EU;
- Recommendations to develop the CCTT Ecological Strategy;
- Holding an international scientific and practical conference on the ecology in transport;
- Participation in a strategic project of RUT (MIIT) titled "Carbon Neutral Transport", implemented as part of the Program for Strategic Academic Leadership "Priority-2030";
- Interaction with Scientific and Education Centre of Carbon Regulation and Sustainable Development in Transport of the Institute of International Transport Communications of RUT (MIIT);
- Development of cooperation with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF);
- Development of cooperation with the Partnership on Sustainable, Low Carbon Transport (SLOCAT);
- Preparation of an annual bulletin on green agenda in international Trans-Eurasian transportation.
