The All-Russian Grain Forum, a key industry event for Russia’s agro-industrial complex, took place in Sochi. Organized by the Union of Grain Exporters and Producers with support from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, the forum served as a central platform for discussing the new architecture of Russian grain exports. The event brought together leaders from the agro-industrial sector, logistics companies, and exporters.

CCTT’s Presentation: Focus on Digital Logistics Ecosystem

On May 21, Mikhail Goncharov, Secretary General of CCTT, delivered a report titled Development of Digital Infrastructure for Transport Corridors in International Agro-Logistics at the session Digital Agro-Logistics: Acceleration or Deceleration. His presentation outlined the current state of the industry and introduced strategic development initiatives.

Current Situation and Key Challenges

The structure of grain exports in Russia is as follows:

  • 80% via sea transport
  • 15% via railways
  • The remainder via road transport

The main challenge in modern logistics remains unpredictability and uncertainty, which negatively impact the entire supply chain.

Key Challenges Faced by the Industry

Despite progress, the sector encounters several significant challenges:

  • Lack of unified electronic document formats
  • Need for cross-border system interoperability
  • Requirement to enhance professional competencies of market participants

«Today, logistics is a highly complex digital ecosystem where customs services have transformed into digital gateways, container lines have become IT companies, and insurance is shifting to parametric models and smart contracts», noted Mikhail Goncharov. «However, it is premature to speak of fully-fledged cross-border digital corridors — issues related to unified electronic document formats and cross-border system interoperability need to be resolved».

Development Prospects

CCTT plans to focus on the following areas:

  • Promoting full-scale implementation of electronic document management at all transportation stages
  • Developing a Transport Connectivity Disruption Risk Index (in collaboration with HSE University)
  • Facilitating expansion of paperless technologies in international transportation
  • Strengthening cooperation with partners in digital platform development

The forum participation allowed CCTT to make a significant contribution to modern agro-logistics development and reaffirm its role as a key player in shaping new transport corridors. Implementation of proposed initiatives will enhance the competitiveness of Russian grain exports in the international market.
